General
Hand of Midas is an upgrade Item listed in the Common section of the Home Shop, purchasable with a Gloves of Haste and a recipe. It is often used by Carry heroes to increase gold and experience income over a long period of time. This item is usually rushed in order to reap its benefits as soon as possible.
Hand of Midas is bought primarily for the experience boost it provides, and secondarily for the reliable gold and attack speed for farming.

Creeps
It is most effective to use on large high level creeps that give more experience, making the most out of the multiplier.
For lane creeps, it is always most effective to use on a Melee Creep. For Mega Creeps, Midas can be used on either because both provide the same bounty and experience.
Situational Counters
Hand of Midas can be used on creeps controlled by Helm of the Dominator, Chen, and Enchantress. This is an effective means of instantly killing enemy controlled creeps.
Axe`s Battle Hunger can also be countered using Midas, the instant creep kill removing the debuff.
